On 3rd February, 60 guests dined together at our restaurant for a good cause. It was a 5-course charity dinner organized by Chef Sapna Anand and Aliyaa Plaza Damansara to aid the Syrian refugees in need.
The idea of this charity dinner was initiated by Chef Sapna, supported by Aliyaa Plaza Damansara whereby all proceeds from the sales of the charity dinner will be donated to the children of Syrian refugees via United Sikhs.
Chef Sapna graduated from Cordon Blue and she has worked and trained with multiple chefs in various parts of India. An author for her cookbook entitled New Indian Kitchen, Chef Sapna is presently running cooking classes at multiple culinary schools and often seen featured in various newspapers and magazines.
With her expertise, Chef Sapna created this five-course charity dinner to encourage the public not to just savour the mouth-watering cuisine, but to contribute a meaningful cause to those in need.
Also presented at the dinner was the guest of honour, Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, a well-known leader in many non-governmental organizations, who contributes greatly towards giving back to the society. She is also an active campaigner for women’s rights.
A total of RM14,420 was raised from the charity dinner and was presented in a cheque to United Sikhs by Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir and Chef Sapna.
